A Series of Unfortunate Events
In an interview, Bush laments that he had "just one of those presidencies."

Bush is now a cautionary tale
The UK Times Online reports this bizarre exchange between French president Sarkozy and Russian prime minister Putin:
With Russian tanks only 30 miles from Tbilisi on August 12, Mr Sarkozy told Mr Putin that the world would not accept the overthrow of the Georgian Government. According to Mr Levitte, the Russian seemed unconcerned by international reaction.
"I am going to hang Saakashvili by the balls," Mr Putin replied.
Mr Sarkozy thought he had misheard. “Hang him?” — he asked.
"Why not? The Americans hanged Saddam Hussein," said Mr Putin.
Mr Sarkozy replied, using the familiar tu, tried to reason with him: "Yes, but do you want to end up like [President] Bush?"
Mr Putin was briefly lost for words, then said: "Ah--you have scored a point there."

What a Menace to Society
Sarah Palin in the New York Daily Post:
If there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door.
No Chair for Joe
Contact your Dem Senator (Jim Webb) and ask him/her to strip Joe Lieberman of the Homeland Security committee chairmanship. The Dems will caucus next week to decide the issue.
It's not only about the campaign--he hasn't done a good job, and we need someone better.

Missouri still up in the air
Most MSM (and even poll guru Nate Silver of 538.com) have called Missouri for McCain. But his lead there is less than 5,000 votes, not all the votes have been counted, and errors are still showing up.
There's no way of knowing whether this could go Obama's way (and obviously it doesn't change the overall results of the national election), but wow--5,000 votes out of more than 2.8 million! That is one tight race.

Funny how that works
Republican’s #1 Lesson from the 2008 Campaign:
“Barack Obama’s promises to cut taxes, merit pay for public school teachers, and renewed offshore drilling, I would say he simply ran the most successful moderate Republican presidential campaign since Dwight Eisenhower.”
- RNC Chairman Mike Duncan (11/5/08)
WOW…I THOUGHT HE WAS A SOCIALIST MUSLIM TERRORIST?!?!?!

Sarah Palin:
"I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration? How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration? If we're talking change, we want to get far away from what it was that the present administration represented and that is to a great degree what the Republican Party at the time had been representing," Palin said in a story published Sunday.Sarah Palin was representing that status quo Republican ticket!

Not what Cheney had in mind
Frank Rich:
The festive scenes of liberation that Dick Cheney had once imagined for Iraq were finally taking place — in cities all over America.
