michael steele: bad choice

The national press seems unaware that Michael Steele, the new RNC chairman, pulled some pretty nasty dirty tricks during his unsuccessful 2006 Senate campaign. He and former Maryland Governor Ehrlich bussed in homeless people from Philadelphia to Baltimore and paid them to distribute phony sample ballots. On the ballots, Steele and Ehrlich were designated as Democrats--intended to fool democratic-leaning African-Americans into voting for them.

Now the WaPo has unearthed some more dirt from that campaign:
Michael S. Steele, the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, arranged for his 2006 Senate campaign to pay a defunct company run by his sister for services that were never performed, his finance chairman from that campaign has told federal prosecutors.

Yeah, not surprised.

The worst thing is, he was the RNC chairman candidate with the least stench. The others were even fouler.
